How Does Microneedling work?

Types of SkinPen

Three phases to the wound-repair process:

  • Phase I: Inflammation. Piercing the skin triggers your immune system to cleanse the wound, remove debris, increase blood flow and begin to create new tissue.
  • Phase II: Proliferation. The wound is rebuilt with new granulation cells, which are part of the extracellular matrix. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.

Will microneedling work for me?

What to Avoid

  • Discontinue use of exfoliants such as AHA’s/BHA’S, retinol or retin-A products.
  • Discontinue blood thinners 3-5 days prior. This includes fish oil and vitamin e.
  • Refrain from sun exposure 7 days prior

Beautopia Skin Studio offers Microneedling with PRP (platelet-rich plasma) derived from your own blood. The plasma is spun in a centrifuge which separates the platelets, we then microneedle this back into the treated area to further heal and allow the skin to regenerate 3x more collagen production. These two treatments together can reduce the appearance of scars, wrinkles, fine lines, spots, and other skin issues. Treatment Technique for SkinPen with PRP

Prior to the microneedling section of your treatment, our RN will draw your blood for the PRP collection. The drawn blood will then be spun in our centrifuge for the separation of the platelets. It’s imperative that you drink lots of water prior to your appointment!
