Answers to common questions…

How do I know which service to book for?

We always recommend coming in for a skin consultation which will allow us to analyze your skin and customize a treatment plan. We charge $50 for a consultation which will be applied towards your service.

What should I do before my facial treatment?

Avoid AHA/BHA’s such as glycolic, lactic, salicylic and or retinols 72 hours prior to your treatment. If you’re receiving a chemical peel, avoid AHA/BHA’s for 7 days. It’s best to come in with no makeup and plan to withhold from working out for the rest of the day.

What to expect after a facial treatment?

Depending on the treatment you receive, your aftercare will vary. As well as downtime. Your esthetician will discuss your aftercare instructions and send you home with post-care products as necessary.

What to expect with a chemical peel?

If it’s your first chemical peel, we recommend scheduling a consultation first. This will allow us to analyze your skin and ensure you’re a good candidate. We recommend prepping the skin for the peel 2-3 weeks prior with retinol and brightening agents such as hydroquinone. Peels are contraindicated if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding.

What services do you offer in spa?

We specialize in corrective skincare such as acne, hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, melasma and age management at Beautopia Skin Studio. We also offer injectables such as Botox, Xeomin, Filler and PDO threads!

Can I book a consultation and be seen same day for treatment?

When booking your appointment, you may notate that you are interested in same-day treatment after your consult and we will accommodate, if possible. Please note not all services are able to be done same day as some skin preparation is needed for certain treatments.

Can I cancel or reschedule my appointment without a charge?

Yes, you have 24 hours in advance to cancel or reschedule your appointment without any charge.

No show’s and same day cancellations will be subject to a charge. Please see our No Show Policy.

When can I apply makeup after a facial treatment?

We recommend waiting at least until the next morning to apply makeup after our facials. For other treatments, your esthetician will advise you as to when would be a suitable time as it varies based on procedure.

Do you offer any Pregnancy/Breast feeding safe skincare products and/or treatments?

Yes! We can customize a facial for our pregnant and nursing clients. We also carry IS Clinical, which is a pregnancy safe line.

How long before a special event would you recommend getting skin treatment?

We recommend coming in 3-7 days before your event to ensure there is no purging in the skin or adverse reactions. If you are planning on getting something more corrective, we advise coming in at least 3-4 weeks before the event.

Can I be seen while I’m on Accutane?

Yes, most facials that we offer are safe to do while on Accutane. You’ll need to avoid peels, microneedling and or laser treatments for at least 6-12 months post Accutane.

When can I expect to see results?

We want our clients to see results as soon as possible! Result time can vary based on what exactly we are treating as well as the severity of the skin condition. A proper skincare regimen is key along with monthly professional treatments.

I’m going on vacation soon, can I come in for a peel beforehand?

Most corrective treatments increase photosensitivity due to the controlled exfoliation that’s used to increase cell rate turnover. Avoiding direct sunlight is advised for 7-10 days post peel for best results. Consistent use is a must.

Are you experienced with treating melanin rich skin?

Here at Beautopia we make a point to be sure that all of our staff are knowledgeable and have experience treating all Fitzpatrick skin types.

What to expect and how to prep for Microneedling?

Prior to microneedling, avoid anti-inflammatory medications (ibuprofen, Aleve), blood thinners, herbal supplements,

vitamin E, and or fish oil for at least one week prior to the day of treatment to avoid excessive bleeding and bruising. Avoid alcohol 24 hours before. You can expect about 2-3 days of downtime with redness the first day, and some possible sunburn-like feelings the second day. Most downtime is finished within the second day; however some light flaking is normal around day 3-4.

How often should I come in for a facial?

Every 4-6 weeks is optimal. Keeping up with your skincare regimen is key to maintain results!

Will dermaplaning make my hair grow back thicker?

No. Dermaplaning is a form of physical exfoliation that sloughs off dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. The only way to alter the thickness of a hair would be to reach the follicle. Hair grows in the shape of a raindrop; traditional shaving can cause hairs to appear thicker or coarser because of the way the razor cuts the hair in the middle. Since dermaplaning is done at an angle the hair grows as it normally would; with a tapered end.
